Title: Help! No Bitmap Loaded . . . then what? Post by jchoyt on Dec 30th, 2003, 5:00pm Please help. I am so clueless :(. I installed the viewer, then created and installed 2 320 X 320 jpgs (converted to pdb and installed via Palm Desktop). Now what. I load up the viewer on my PDA and I get a No Bitmap Loaded error. Go to options, hit browse. I can see my two jpgs there, but when I try to open on, it says "Invalid or unsupported bitmap" Please, please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks, Jeff |

Start with "Greyscale 16", it should be supported by all devices. If this does not work, please let me know what type of Palm you have and if possible send me one of the pdb files you cannot view. |

Title: Re: Help! No Bitmap Loaded . . . then what? Post by jchoyt on Dec 31st, 2003, 1:58pm I have a Clie SJ20. I went to 256 Grayscale, which the PDA does support - Sony provides a viewer that supports 256 Grayscale and I have a few other apps that use it. I'll send you the pdb file. Thanks for your help! Title: Re: Help! No Bitmap Loaded . . . then what? Post by Denis Bakin on Dec 31st, 2003, 2:43pm Hi Jeff, I checked on the WEB. All sellers list the SJ20 as a 16 Greyscale device. You can search google for "Sony Clie SJ20 greyscale" to see it yourself. Maybe the other apps you saw provided incorrect information regarding the screen mode used or the hi-res 16 shades picture looked much alike a 256 shades one. |

Title: Re: Help! No Bitmap Loaded . . . then what? Post by Denis Bakin on Jan 3rd, 2004, 12:28pm Hi Jeff, Dn't be dissapointed. Try to check the "use dithering" checkbox in the converter. I think with the density of the pixels your hi-res screen provides you may find the quality of the picture acceptible or close enough to what you'd have if the 256 shades mode was available. |

Title: Re: Help! No Bitmap Loaded . . . then what? Post by jchoyt on Jan 3rd, 2004, 3:52pm It was more embarrasment than disappointment ;). I did use the dithering and the pics are a bit dark, but otherwise look great. I will try to lighten them a bit with Gimp and reload them. Thanks for your help, Jeff |
